I used Serif PhotoPlus 7, available for $9.95 from:

(You act like you're downloading the free version 5.5, and it gives you a chance

I started with the Thanksgiving picture, widened it on the left, removed me, and
then put in a nice random background from the other parts of the picture.
I then copied Isobel and me from a picture taken a few days earlier in Las Vegas
and pasted us on top of the original picture as a new layer, stretched it, and
adjusted our brightness down a bit. I then did the same for TC, and also
swapped him left-to-right so he was facing me, like in the original picture.
