My DipTrace Schematic Capture and PCB Layout Experiences

I installed ten different schematic capture and PCB layout programs (diptrace, easy-pc, eagle, autotrax, winqcad, edwin, orcad, kicad, freepcb, and pads), and compared them performing a very simple task, with a one hour time limit:

1. create two custom components (since the parts I am using won't be in any libraries!),
2. connect two pins, and
3. generate a PCB.

DipTrace was my favorite -- it has a great feature set, an intuitive UI, and best of all, a low price!

I also installed the trial version of the Electra Autorouter, and it totally rocks on my tightly packed board!

(Note, I later installed pcb artist and it probably would have been my second choice in the comparison above!)
