If there is something that I learned more than anything else on the trip, it is that what we see on the news on TV is NOT representative of the real world. The real world is filled with wonderful, caring, generous people who are always ready to help a stranger with a minute's notice -- quite a contrast to the news on TV which would have all of us believing that a careless step outside our sterile (and secure) houses would mean certain death... Maybe it would be a death of a sort -- for the TV!
